The second season of the TV anime Knights of Sidonia has been confirmed. Knights of Sidonia began broadcasting on Animeism in April of this year and it ended with Episode 12, “Return to Ship.” The finale was first broadcast on MBS on June 26. The spot commercial following up the finale revealed Season 2 of the anime, titled Sidonia no Kishi: Dai-kyū Wakusei Seneki (Knights of Sidonia: War of the Ninth Planet).
First shown in the spot CM is the phrase “The journey continues.” After that, Tsumugi Shiraui, a character well known from the original manga who will have an important role in the story of Season 2, appears on screen. Only a single word, “Tanikaze,” is shown. The CM raised cries of joy from those who saw the finale’s broadcast.
Information on Knights of Sidonia: War of the Ninth Planet has yet to be revealed, but anticipation is raising regarding the role of main character Nagate Tanikaze and any new characters.
It has also been confirmed that Episodes 1 and 2 of Knights of Sidonia: War of the Ninth Planet will be first shown at a screening event called “Knights of Sidonia Premium Event” to be held in Tokyo Dome City Prism Hall on Nov. 23. Guests planned for the event include Ryōta Ōsaka (Nagate Tanikaze), Aya Suzaki (heroine Shizuka Hoshijiro), and other members of the main cast as well as angela, the band in charge of the opening theme song. Because of this lineup, this is an event fans won’t want to miss. An advance ticket voucher to the event is included in the first and second volumes of the Blu-ray on sale now.
In other news, the “Third Knights of Sidonia Fastest Screening in the Cosmos” was held at Toho Cinemas Roppongi Hills on June 29. Screened at the event was the unaired director’s cut of the 12th episode. Because tickets sold out within three minutes of going on sale, the event to come will be one to keep your eyes on.
