Girlfriend (Beta), the popular school romance game for smartphones, is becoming an anime. This announcement was made on the official site on June 26. The series is also becoming a manga that will begin serialization in the September issue of Dengeki Maoh on sale from Kadokawa on July 26. In charge of this is Tsukako Akina and the main heroine will be the popular character Kokomi Shiina. The story will be all new and depict the everyday lives of cute girls in a school setting. With the game becoming an anime and now a manga as well, it seems the media mix for Girlfriend (Beta) is progressing all at once.
Girlfriend (Beta) is a school romance game that was developed on CyberAgent’s IT service Ameba. Players become a student and get to enjoy meeting and dating various girls. One secret to the game’s success is the stellar voice cast. The voice cast brings together over 80 of the biggest names in voice acting including Yui Horie, Yukari Tamura, Ai Kayano, and Satomi SatÅ. Players can enjoy familiar voices one after the next. To date, the game has 5.3 million total users. Because fans have been loudly voicing their hopes for an anime, it can be said that the TV anime adaptation being given the greenlight has been a long-awaited development.
The characters and world of the game Girlfriend (Beta) will be reproduced in the TV anime. On the other hand, no information on the broadcast networks, broadcast times, or cast have been revealed yet. These details will be announced at a production announcement press conference to be held on July 19 at the Akihabara UDX Theater in Tokyo and on the anime’s official site.
Also, syncing up with the TV anime and manga, it seems development of related products is widening. From here on, there will be various campaigns held and an expansion of goods. The first part of this is planned to take place on Famima.com. This as well is likely to be of interest to fans.
