The TV anime One Week Friends, which began broadcasting on Tokyo MX and other networks in April, is a talked-about work that tells of the relationship between classmates, one of whom loses her memory of her friends every week. Now, the music video to the opening theme sung by Natsumi Kon, “Niji no Kakera,” has been released. Also, in order to raise excitement for the single’s release on May 21, anime shops and record stores handed out packs of tissue called “Kaori Fujimiya’s Crying Tissue.”
Natsumi Kon is active as an actress in musicals and she had her debut in 2013 with the theme song to the TV anime Galactic Armored Fleet Majestic Prince. Her rise to popularity was sudden.
In charge of the lyrics and composition of her new song “Niji no Kakera” is singer/songwriter “Ai Kawashima. Natsumi shows off her carefree singing voice in the music video against an early spring backdrop that matches the world of One Week Friends.
Also released on the same day as the opening theme, May 21, is the ending theme “Kanade” sung by voice actress Sora Amamiya as heroine Kaori Fujimiya. This song is a cover of a song by the music group Sukima Switch. These songs that match the anime and show off Amamiya’s effortless singing voice are picking up attention from many viewers.
It has also been revealed that stores handed out packs of tissue called “Kaori Fujimiya’s Crying Tissue” on the release date of the CDs in celebration of the simultaneous release. These are for the inevitable flow of tears due to the heartrending anime and songs. The tissue pack comes with a flyer designed with a visual of Fujimiya and some of her impressive quotes. On the back, a portion of “Kaori’s Diary,” which is available for a limited time on the anime’s official site, can be read.
