A production press conference for the anime series Glasslip, which will begin its TV broadcast this July, was recently held at the Mikuni Cultural Center in Mikuni, Sakai, Fukui Prefecture. This may seem a slightly odd place to hold a press conference, but it was chosen because the work is set in a small port town in Fukui Prefecture. Not much was disclosed regarding the actual production, but a wealth of information including new visuals, new characters, additional cast, broadcast times for each network, the story, and more was revealed for the first time. Also, a roughly 4-minute version of the second PV was shown. It feels like things are really picking up for the summer broadcast.
Another highlight was those who went on stage at the event. These included cast members Seria Fukagawa (Tohko Fukami), Saori Hayami (Yanagi Takayama), Risa Taneda (Sachi Nagamiya), Ryota Osaka (Kakeru Okikura), Nobunaga Shimazaki (Yukinari Imi), and Daiki Yamashita (Hiro Shirosaki). A talk also unfolded between director Junji Nishimura, Kenji Horikawa from anime production company P.A. Works, and other members of the production staff. Live performances were also held by ChouCho who is in charge of the opening theme “Natsu no Hi to Kimi no Koe” and nano.RIPE who is in charge of the ending theme “Toumei na Sekai.” It was an appropriate day for this talked-about anime.
Glasslip tells a summer story of third-year high school students. Tohko Fukami is the daughter of a glassmaker, and her friend’s family runs a cafe called Kazemichi which is a place of relaxation for her and her friends. They then meet transfer student Kakeru Okikura who talks about how he can hear voices from the future. If you could know the future, what would you want to see? Tohko has never felt so excited before. She realizes that feelings she can’t ignore have formed in her heart…
The PV released this time depicts, beginning with Tohko and Kakeru, the abundantly unique boys and girls. It seems fans are already being won over by the series’ world.
Producing the anime is P.A. Works which is acclaimed for its heartwarming stories of adolescence that include True Tears, Hanasaku Iroha, and Tari Tari. It was created as an original TV anime. The anime is being directed by Junji Nishimura who has worked on True Tears and others, and the assistant director is Takebumi Anzai whose past works includeHanasaku Iroha and Tari Tari. Many staff familiar to P.A. Works’ series are participating.
